NBC Indicator Matrix
In an instance when an unknown agent has caused mass casualties and no detector system is available, the PEAC implementation of a guide developed by the
US Department of Defense (DOD) that assesses the observed symptoms of casualties to provide guidance as to the class of agent to which they have been exposed.
The NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) Indicator Matrix was developed by the US DOD in the early 1990's to provide visual cues for the First Responder to
assist in determining the possible class of agent used to incapacitate a number of victims. Observed symptoms are input into the matrix to allow assessment
of possible agent(s).
Upon completing the input of all viewed symptoms, the NBC Indicator Matrix offers possible class(es) of agent(s) for the mass casualties.
